Crows have carved their place in mythology, literature, and popular culture. They can be associated with misfortune, danger, and death, but also with rebirth, intelligence, and loyalty. They were companions to norse god-father Odin, flying through the branches of the world tree and observing on his behalf. The duality of the crow makes them somewhat unique, as they can be both a positive or a negative omen.
