Hi, please introduce yourself and your business.
Hi! We are Miss Moo Wellness. A stay at home mama run natural product and essential oil blend company in Regina, SK.
Why did you start crafting business and how does your passion still drive your business today?
I started as a hobby after becoming pregnant and having our first daughter. After reading labels on commonly used products- I wasn’t happy with the ingredients and additives and knew that I wanted to create something different for our family. We now have two children and they continue to be my “why” behind the brand and creating new products.
At what point did you realize this is what you wanted to pursue and that the potential to make a living from it was there?
We created products that we loved and shared with our friends and family. They started purchasing from us and sharing with their circles as well. After we gained our initial little customer base- we tried a few trade shows and thought maybe we could actually make a go of this.
Was there a turning point or what made you want to switch this from a hobby to more of a business?
I knew I wanted to continue to stay home past my Maternity Leave- so we decided to register for all the trade shows we could find!
What brought you to selling your products with Handmade Saskatchewan?
We ran our business out of our home- and it was always constant chaos with two babes at home and keeping up with the influx of orders. We really value the importance of community and shopping local- so Handmade Saskatchewan seemed like a natural fit to have all our products under one roof (that wasn’t my chaotic toddler ridden house!)
What do you attribute your success to?
Our customers! We have some amazing customers that have been with us through all the shifts, the learning and growing pains. Without them returning to us and sharing their love for our products- we wouldn’t be where we are today!
If you could speak face to face with yourself when you first started, what pearls of wisdom would you impart?
Be patient. Growing pains are part of the process. You live and learn as you go and it will make the business stronger.
What new products have you been working on? Any you would like to highlight?
We have a few new products in the works for the fall... stay tuned!
How has the pandemic affected your business?
It’s been a struggle with two kids at home- no school or childcare. For awhile there we were back to the good ol days of running it solely from home- except our customer base is HUGE now in comparison. We quickly switched gears- made some shipping adjustments and joined virtual cross Canada Markets to continue to expand our brand. It’s a constant juggle of packing orders and wrangling kids- but we have a groove now!
Thank you for your time! Any last closing comments?
We are so grateful for the local support- especially in this weird trying time of uncertainly. THANK YOU for supporting our little family.
